SOVIBOR – Sociedade de Vinhos de Borba

“SOVIBOR – Sociedade de Vinhos de Borba” – is an historical company from the Alentejo Region, founded in 1968 that, with the arrival of a new Board leaded by Fernando Tavares, is now focused on the Quality and Repositioning of its Wines, on a much higher level of quality and price.

Right in the center of Borba, SOVIBOR benefits of unique premises, where over two centuries of history are blended with new quality patterns, wines and brands, a new management team, renewed image and a new strategy.

A Family-Owned Company, with a strong knowledge and experience in the production of Alentejo Wines, namely from the Borba DOC.

Tradition, Quality and Modernity, are values we want to preserve, in order to continue to build our History.

QUALITY STARTS ON THE GRAPES…

SOVIBOR closely controls and follows the grape production in more than 170 Ha of vineyards in the Borba Region, with important percentages of “Old Vine”, allowing thus the superior quality of its grapes, vital for the creation of High Quality Wines.

A TRADITIONAL LANDMARK

The Cellar has two buildings, located in the hearth of Borba, one of which is named “Adega do Passo”, a unique and historic building, with more than 200 years old.

We strongly believe using Ancient Vinification Equipments (Traditional Pressing, Marble “Lagares”) and Ageing of Wines (Clay Amphorae, Cement Tanks, Used Wooden Vats) , in perfect sintony with modern technology, always searching for Products of Excellence.

A new Vison of Oenology and Viticulture was develloped, with a team managed by António Ventura, with Raphael Neuparth and Rita Tavares.

Responsability, Focus and Quality are the foundations of the Company, which has launched new harvests and wines, already positioned at higher levels, following a carefull process of image rebranding and vinification processes.

SOVIBOR aimes to be the reference within Borba Wines, with a range of wines where the tipicity and unique characteristics of the region clearly stand out.

From the range of products, we would clearly highlight the brands MAMORÉ de BORBA, ADEGA do PASSO, PASSO dos TERCEIROS, SOVIBOR and VALFLOR.
